Brachial plexus surgery is a procedure performed to repair injury to the cluster of nerves in the neck portion of the spinal cord (known as the brachial plexus). Injury to the brachial plexus can be caused by various factors, including complications at birth, repeated collisions from contact sports, or car accidents. When damaged, this can negatively impact motor functions of the shoulders, arms, or hands and make it difficult to perform ordinary tasks.

Dr. Amber Leis has been working with the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (or CHOC) to help repair brachial plexus injuries for children in need. Her expert knowledge and experience in reconstructive surgery allow her to provide these children with the high level of care they require when undergoing this procedure.

“We want to be part of the child’s journey and provide long-term care to ensure the best possible outcome,” says Dr. Leis.
